Drilling at Tesoro Resources’ (ASX: TSO) El Zorro project in Chile has demonstrated the presence of wide gold zone with intercepts up to 176.5m in length.

First assay results from the current drilling program at the Ternera prospect cover three holes and part of a fourth.

Eighteen drill holes have been completed so far, with core samples for another six holes now at the laboratory awaiting assay.

Drilling is ongoing with two diamond drill rigs operating 24 hours per day.

The results so far include one intersection from Hole 29 over 176.5m at 0.85 grams a tonne gold, with mineralisation beginning at 29.5m downhole.

This includes 63.5m at 1.81g/t gold, 5.2m at 3.36g/t, 2m at 33g/t, 9.6m at 1.82g/t and 3m at 4.75g/t.

Hole 31 struck mineralisation from 72m, the intersection over 54m at 1.69g/t gold, including 6.7m at 11.57g/t.

A third hole returned 26m at 0.6g/t gold, with four higher grade sections and the hole finishing in mineralisation. The partial result from Hole 28 shows 7m at 0.85g/t gold.

Multiple high-grade faults zones intersected

Tesoro managing director Zeff Reeves said the drill team is making good progress. The 18 holes drilled so far include two step-out holes to the north of Ternera that are targeting a recently identified geophysical anomaly.

“Ternera continues to return excellent results with further wide zones of mineralisation defined and multiple high-grade fault zones intersected,” he said.

The present drill program has been expanded to include extension and extra infill holes as Ternera’s mineralised footprint continues to expand, the company said.

The drilling program, including the new infill holes, has been expanded to a minimum 10,000m.

Early this month, the company reported assay results from two prospects at its El Zorro project in Chile showing it was continuing to deliver “outstanding” results including one sample returning 2m at 19.98g/t gold.

The company has also been carrying out channel and rock chip sampling at the Ternera and Drone Hill prospects within the El Zorro ground.

The El Zorro project is located 140km by road from the city of Copiapo in northern Chile.

Tesoro has been focusing on the coastal Cordillera region in Chile, host to multiple large copper and gold mines.
