Perth-based uranium explorer 92 Energy (ASX: 92E) has confirmed that a summer drilling program at the Gemini project in Canada’s prolific Athabasca Basin continues to deliver thick zones of mineralisation.

During the season, 21 drill holes were completed at the Gemini Mineralised Zone (GMZ) for a total 6,095.

This yielded an 81% success rate, with 17 holes intersecting more than 0.5m of 0.05% uranium oxide equivalent.

Best intersections were 49.9m of composite mineralisation including 3.6m of 0.9% uranium oxide equivalent within 25.4m of 0.3% uranium oxide equivalent; 17.6m of composite uranium oxide equivalent mineralisation including 1.5m of 1.1% uranium oxide equivalent; 40m of uranium oxide equivalent including 1.4m of 0.9% uranium oxide equivalent and 1.1m of 1% uranium oxide equivalent.

92 Energy said while two holes did not intersect significant radioactivity, the geology encountered suggested a prospective graphite-altered basement unit which is spatially associated with uranium mineralisation could be located down-dip.

Open mineralisation

At the end of the summer campaign, uranium had been defined over a 220 square metre area and remains open to the north, northwest, southeast, and southwest.

Mineralisation at the GMZ has now been intersected as shallow as 60m vertically from surface and drilled to a depth of at least 210m vertically from surface, with a further 1.5 kilometres of highly-prospective strike yet to be tested.

Drill core samples have been sent away for chemical analysis, with assays expected by end October.

Reconnaissance holes

In addition to exploration at the GMZ, four reconnaissance holes for 1,065m were completed at Camp West and the GMZ Extension (GMX) on the Gemini project.

No anomalous radioactivity was intersected in any of the holes however the degree of alteration and structural disruption was considered to be “encouraging”.

92 Energy said its technical team has commenced planning additional high resolution geophysical coverage over the GMZ and GMX to aid in drill targeting, with the aim of further expanding the GMZ.

Drill planning for the new season will follow the completion and synthesis of the surveys.
