Exploration junior Recharge Metals (ASX: REC) has commenced a diamond drilling program at the Brandy Hill South copper-gold project in Western Australia’s Murchison province.

Three reverse circulation holes from a November maiden program will be extended with diamond tails.

Each hole will be drilled from the current end of hole depth of approximately 90 metres to a new depth of around 300m.

Maiden drilling program concluded in January with a total of 20 holes completed for 3,374m.

Significant results returned from the first four holes were 12m at 1.20% copper from 74m including 4m at 2.87% copper from 74m; 1m at 5.92% copper from 147m; 32m at 0.49% copper from 65m; 10m at 0.71% copper from 69m; and 16m at 0.41% copper from 78m including 1m at 1.46% copper from 87m.

Primary mineralisation

Based on observations made during the maiden program, the diamond tail work is expected to provide Recharge with valuable structural and lithological information to assist in understanding the nature of the primary mineralisation at Brandy Hill South.

It will also investigate an apparent supergene mineralisation identified within oxidised zones of the weathered profile.

Recharge has engaged Drillcore to complete the work which started last week and is expected to be completed within 21 days.

DHEM survey

A downhole electromagnetic (DHEM) survey will also be completed to provide further insight into the known southern mineralisation and test late-time electromagnetic conductors interpreted from a surface moving loop transient electromagnetic survey completed in mid-2005.

Results from the survey will combine with pending assays and observations from the diamond drilling program to assist in planning further exploration.

Positive step

Recharge managing director Brett Wallace said the diamond work would be a positive step towards learning more about the copper-gold project.

“We are very excited to be back on the ground at Brandy Hill South,” he said.

“Diamond drilling will allow us to target continuity of mineralisation will provide important information and context for preparing future drilling programs.”

Project location

The Brandy Hill South project lies along the Archaean Gullewa greenstone belt within the Murchison province of WA’s Yilgarn Craton.

It covers approximately 100 square kilometres in an infrastructure zone which currently services Silver Lake Resource’s (ASX: SLR) Deflector copper-gold mine, located 18km to the north.

Recharge’s primary focus at Brandy Hill South is to delineate economically-significant copper and gold resources.
