As it awaits assays, Monger Gold (ASX: MMG) is gearing up to begin drilling at the Providence prospect within the Mt Monger North project in Western Australia’s goldfields.

Monger Gold’s exploration manager Michael O’Mara is currently in the field with logging and sampling of a 3,300m vacuum drilling program underway at Mt Monger North. Torian Resources (ASX: TRN) had completed this program in April before the project was spun out into Monger Gold’s ownership.

The samples will be submitted for analysis along with those taken from 11 trenches to the east of the Providence prospect.

Monger Gold is also undertaking soil sampling at its other projects Gibraltar South and Mt Monger South using the CSIRO’s Ultrafine+ technology.

The company anticipates the CSIRO technology will enhance its chance of exploration success at the project while also improving its understanding of metal weathering and mobility.

Monger Gold non-executive chairman Peretz Schapiro said the company was pleased to “hit the ground running” with its exploration programs which includes a multi-faceted approach to increase the company’s chance of early exploration success.

“The company’s systematic approach to exploration will enable it to rapidly assess the mineralisation potential across its tenement holdings for the benefit of all stakeholders,” he added.

Advancing Mt Monger North

With field work underway, Monger Gold is planning a 600m reverse circulation infill drilling program at Mt Monger North.

The program aims to build on historical results and provide information to guide further exploration.

“The initial infill drilling program will commence on or around 11 October and provide critical information to inform future exploration decisions on the Providence prospect,” Mr Schapiro said.

He said the assays from Torian’s drilling and trench samples will also provide “considerable additional data” to help shape the company’s ongoing exploration plans.

Historical drilling at Mt Monger North intercepted numerous high-grade gold hits.

Highlight results were 1m at 20 grams per tonne gold from 54m, 7m at 1.04g/t gold from 24m, 3m at 17g/t gold from 97m, and 1m at 18.4g/t gold from 24m.
