Gold explorer Alto Metals (ASX: AME) has continued to return high-grade gold from a major ongoing drilling program at its 100% owned Sandstone project in Western Australia’s Murchison region.

The company today announced the latest results from 18 reverse circulation holes drilled at the Vanguard deposit, targeting extensions of high-grade mineralisation along the Vanguard Trend.

Assay highlights include a 24m intersection grading 3.5 grams per tonne gold from 132m to end of hole, including 2m at 11.7g/t from 141m and 2m at 18.6g/t from 154m; 4m at 2.7g/t gold from 38m; and 17m at 1.6g/t gold from 117m, including 1m at 11.6g/t.

High-grade gold hits were encountered outside of the current Vanguard Camp resource, which currently totals 850,000t at 1.8g/t for 50,000 ounces of gold.

Alto managing director Matthew Bowles said the 24m intersection, together with a 30m at 1.9g/t gold intercept from Vanguard North in early November, confirms the presence of a new gold mineralised horizon at Vanguard, 100m east of the main deposit and which remains open along strike and down dip.

“Our drilling continues to highlight the growth potential at the Vanguard Camp,” he said.

“Our systematic approach is continuing to deliver, and we are looking forward to recommencing our aggressive drilling program early in the new year.”

Tiger Moth prospect

Step-out RC drilling at the Tiger Moth prospect, which forms part of the Indomitable Camp at Sandstone, also returned strong intercepts.

These comprised 11m at 1.2g/t gold from 77m, and 9m at 2.2g/t gold from 153m, including 2m at 8.3g/t.

The results have extended the overall mineralised footprint at Tiger Moth by 200m to the north-east and 200m to the southwest.

Mr Bowles said the company expects to announce the assays still pending for more than 50 RC holes over the coming weeks. These assays are mainly from the Lord Henry, Vanguard and Indomitable deposits.

The updated Sandstone mineral resource remains on track for release during the March quarter.
