Gateway Mining ASX GML assays Julias oxide gold discovery Gidgee project Western Australia

Gateway Mining plans to complete a resource for Julias in the current quarter.

Junior explorer Gateway Mining (ASX: GML) has reported new high-grade assays from infill drilling at the emerging Julias oxide gold deposit, within the Gidgee project in Western Australia’s Murchison region.

A total of 46 reverse circulation holes were completed for 4,203m – primarily targeting oxide mineralisation within the top 70m of cover.

The company designed the holes to provide regular data coverage across the 500m of strike length at the main oxide zone.

Consistent high-grade mineralisation was returned throughout the strike, with highlights of 11m at 6 grams per tonne gold from 58m; 4m at 6.1g/t gold from 30m; 8m at 3.2g/t gold from 60m; 4m at 4.0g/t gold from 57m; 13m at 2.6g/t gold from 71m; 10m at 2.7g/t gold from 52m; and 11m at 2.2g/t gold from 43m .

Other results included4m at 3.1g/t gold from 51m; 5m at 2.6g/t gold from 55m; 6m at 2.8g/t gold from 72m; 7m at 2.8g/t gold from 36m; and 7m at 2.5g/t gold from 51m.

Gateway said all results would be used to establish a maiden mineral resource estimate for Julias later this quarter.

Exciting discovery

Gateway managing director Mark Cossom said Julias has rapidly emerged as one of the exciting new discoveries at Gidgee.

“The oxide mineralisation has been clearly defined and we now have sufficient data to commence work on a mineral resource estimate,” he said.

“Exploration to date has established this deposit as having potential to make a material contribution to our resource inventory at Gidgee, and we are looking forward to completing the work to make this happen.”

Additional mineralisation

Despite industry-wide delays in assay turnaround times, Gateway has continued to pursue its strategy of exploring for additional mineralisation within 5km of the existing 449,000 ounce Gidgee project resources.

A further 15,000m of reverse circulation drilling is underway, targeting extensions to existing resources at the Evermore, Montague-Boulder and Achilles deposits, and beneath the historic Caledonian open pit.

Exploration will also systematically test the eastern margin of the Montague Granodiorite for the first time.

The program is around 60% complete.

Following drilling, Gateway will conduct a regional aircore program of approximately 16,000m to test high-priority targets throughout the Gidgee project.

The company hopes the work will provide additional prospects for follow-up drilling in the new year.
